It sounds cliche, but we are always looking for techniques with which we can help you care for your pet. Sometimes this involves phone calls and research. Sometimes it involves veering from the beaten path of what has worked in the past. And sometimes it simply requires returning to school to learn a new skill. This summer Dr. Garland spent a LOT of time in school, and we are now pleased to let you know that her efforts have brought integrative medicine to Shady Grove Animal Clinic.
Tools of the Trade
Integrative medicine combines the best of both Western traditional medicine and the ancient practices of Eastern medicine, including acupuncture and herbal supplementation. Dr. Garland participated in 160 hours of training and mentorship from the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society and is continuing the training to obtain certification. This new modality allows us to complement current treatments, or to provide treament when it might not have been possible in the past. I have been amazed at the different ways in which Dr. Garland is already putting her skills to use. Make sure you schedule a time to talk to her to find out if eastern medicine can help your pet!
